I mixed up some flour, water, added some Fleischmann's yeast, and left it loosely covered, in hopes some airborne yeast would infiltrate the starter. It has a nice sour tang, so something got there.

At least tell me you're using unbleached flour .. Though with the price of flour as it is, not sure you'll be saving that much..

I'm not able to sit on an island and watch the money roll in, I need to squeeze in a job around my cooking activities.
I think it was unbleached, Wegmans' Fod You Feel Good About flour (Wegmans should be infiltrating your neck of the woods soon, if not, check them out when you go North).

. . . in Toronto, it was actually the first of its kind in Canada, I think. Anyways, it was an awesome experience, and an amazing group of kids, just amazing - and it doesn't seem like I got lucky with my grade group or anything, you will get reviews like that across the board from my experience. So, I think your kid will really enjoy it.

Only thing I regretted from that time was an almost non-existant sports program, just too many other things going on to really fit it in. But, I wouldn't trade my time there for any other school alternative, nosirree . . .

. . . CBB went to the same high school as I, and it had the arts program; however, he was not in the arts program, but in the gifted program. He was no artsy, but a nerd.
I auditioned in grade 6 and luckily got in with two other kids (they took 60 kids in grade 4, and replaced 3 each year after until 8), continuing on in aforementioned high school arts progam in grade 9. I moved away in the summer, and although I returned for my OACs (gr 13) after a house fire, there was no getting back in the program at that point.

I threw out hooch, my starter. I'm sure he was still living, but a. I haven't baked in months and with the apartment I doubt I'll be making bread. if I do, I can start another one, he would have required much babysitting for a few weeks to reach a new equilibrium in chicago.

Only the elder daughter has Nintendogs, but they do share. We younger got her DS because the elder lost her's at school. Eventually the kid who had the locker below her's coughed it up. I'm guessing it fell into his locker somehow and he took it home until his parents told him to bring the pink DS back.

I technically browsed the internet when I was in college, I recall reading Dead show reviews on net.music.gdead, but it was in a crowded computer lab, and I don't know if there were any binaries around. I didn't look for erotica, either.

I did have a very geeky friend who dialed in to the mainframes using his Commodore, or some such early presonal computer.

I did most of my internetting from my dorm room via dialup (they hadn't wired the dorms yet). Had to dial a special prefix to disable call waiting to avoid getting kicked off when a call came in. One time, I remember a guy across the hall came over saying that my roommate's (who was 22 years old) girlfriend (10th grader) was calling, demanding I get off the computer so she can get through. Roommate wasn't around, told the guy to just tell her to fuck off next time she calls. She would call multiple times a day, even after I told her he wasn't home, and had already taken a message from her. Very insecure girl, obviously. Ahh, good times.
