I made my map the hard way. When I bought the house, all of the outlets were two-prong outlets, with the ground wire floating inside the box. This obviously wouldn't do, so I replaced all the outlets before moving in.

right here
, it sends some sort of signal along the wire to a receiver plugged into the outlet (or light socket, or test leads), which comes back and lets you know when you've found the correct breaker.
